Police arrest man suspected of forcing woman to drive away from KCK motel shooting

Kansas City, Kansas, police on Thursday arrested a man suspected of forcing a woman at gunpoint to drive him from a shooting scene Wednesday evening at a hotel.

A police spokeswoman said the man, 38-year-old Matthew Walker, was arrested without incident Thursday afternoon.

Police found the woman, Candi Hunter, along with the vehicle late Wednesday.

The victim of the shooting, a man in his early 40s, remains in critical condition at a hospital.

Officers responded to the 4700 block of State Avenue about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday where they found a shooting victim in the parking lot of the Regency Inn in Kansas City, Kansas.

Investigators believed Walker left the area of the shooting in a 1993 teal or turquoise and silver Chevy Suburban, allegedly forcing Hunter at gunpoint to drive him from the area.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 911 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
