Missouri trooper hit by vehicle and injured during chase in Kansas City, North

A Missouri highway patrol trooper was hit by a vehicle and injured early Tuesday during a chase in Kansas City, North, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The chase began about 12:40 a.m. on Interstate 29 near the exit to U.S. 169 highway. The trooper pursued the red passenger car to the area of Frontier Road and Northwest 50th Terrace in Northmoor, the highway patrol said on Twitter.

As the trooper exited his vehicle, the suspect turned his car around and allegedly struck the trooper. The trooper, who was trying to get out of the way, fired his gun, according to the highway patrol.

The trooper suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. The suspect, a 29-year-old Gardner man, was later arrested in Kansas.

The Missouri Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control continues to investigate the incident.
