Shooting early Saturday in KC leaves one in critical condition and led to standoff

A shooting early Saturday that left a man in critical condition led to a standoff, the Kansas City Police Department said.

Officers were dispatched about 4 a.m. to East 25th and Agnes on a reported shooting.

They found a man outside who had been shot, said Capt. David Jackson, a spokesman for the department. The man was transported to a local hospital and was in critical condition.

Investigators received information that the victim had come out of a specific house.

Officers attempted to contact the occupants, but no one answered.

Jackson said police had reason to believe at least one person was in the house and a standoff was initiated.

About 9:30 a.m., Jackson said three people came out of the residence. They were taken into custody and detectives began processing the scene.
