One victim shot in back, another shot 5 times in robbery Monday night in Kansas City

Two people were injured in a shooting Monday night in Kansas City, according to police.

Officers responded about 11 p.m. to the 8100 block of Campbell Street, where they found two shooting victims, said Kansas City Police Department spokesman Dave Jackson.

The victims told police that a man walked up to them demanding money. The man tried to reach into one victim’s coat to grab some items.

When the victim tried to run away, police said, the man shot him in the back. The other victim was shot five times. Both were taken to a hospital.

Police said the shooter left the area on foot.

No suspect information has been released.

The shooting came after two days of violence in Kansas City.

Monday afternoon, police responded to a homicide in the 8100 block of East 80th Street. The night before, 15 people were injured and a woman was killed when a man fired into a line of people outside a nightclub in the 4800 block of Noland Road.

A private security guard shot and killed the shooter.
