Woman found dead inside Overland Park home; 1 person of interest in custody, police say

Overland Park police were investigating a homicide Tuesday after a woman was found dead inside a home.

One person has been taken into custody for questioning, police said.

After 1:30 p.m., police officers were called to the home, located at The Enclave at Lionsgate subdivision off Nall Avenue.

Inside the residence in the 5500 block of West 148th Terrace, the victim’s mother found the body, according to Officer John Lacy, an Overland Park police spokesman. Police have not said how the woman died but said they were investigating her death as a homicide, Lacy said.

Police also have not yet released the victim’s identity but said she was a woman in her 20s.

Lacy said police were able to develop “some solid leads” and had a person of interest in custody Tuesday night. He added that the incident appeared to be “domestic in nature.”

Part of West 148th Terrace was blocked off as police continued the investigation Tuesday night.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Overland Park Police Department at 913-344-8768 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
