Platte City man sentenced for repeated sexual abuse of child over six-year time span
A Platte City man who sexually assaulted a child from the time she was 2 until she was 8 will spend up to 30 years in prison.
Brandon S. Vanmeter, 31, was sentenced in Platte County Circuit Court on Thursday for first-degree statutory sodomy.
He plead guilty to the charge in November.
Vanmeter was initially charged in 2017 after the girl, who was 8 years old at the time, reported the conduct to a staff member at school after attending a “bad touch” presentation.
Vanmeter admitted in court to abusing the girl at least five or six times over the six year period.
“Words cannot adequately convey the horrific crimes this man inflicted on this young child,” Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said in a news release. “ This defendant received a 30-year sentence, but he imposed a life sentence on his victim.”
Vanmeter will become eligible for parole after 25 years and six months.
