Kansas City police investigate homicide after man found shot in his vehicle dies

A man who was found in a vehicle with gunshot wounds Tuesday has died, the Kansas City Police Department said Friday.

The police department said they were notified Thursday that Kareem A. Nelson, 20, had died from his injuries.

The shooting occurred at 23rd and Indiana.

Witnesses said someone in another vehicle fired shots into Nelson’s vehicle.

Nelson was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

A nearby Metro bus was also struck in the incident. Police said the bus didn’t appear to be the intended target of the gunfire.

Nelson’s death is the 147th homicide in Kansas City this year, according to data maintained by The Star.
