Teen charged after Missouri woman says she was tied up and sexually assaulted

A teenager in Henry County has been charged with burglary, kidnapping and stealing related to a home invasion that occurred early Tuesday.

Colby Thornton, 17, was in custody Wednesday at the Henry County Detention Center. His bond was listed at $250,000.

According to a probable cause statement, an 83-year-old woman told police her hands, feet and mouth were bound with electrical tape while she was sexually assaulted in her living room.

Her vehicle and purse, including a cellphone, were stolen.

She was taken to a hospital.

Deputies received a ping location from the phone and also located the stolen Jeep.

During an interview with police, Thornton admitted he used electrical tape on the woman, but denied the sexual assault, the probable cause statement said.

Henry County Prosecutor Richard Shields said the assault wasn’t described specifically enough in the statement, but such a charge could be added once he receives the complete report. Another suspect is also being investigated.
