In triple shooting, Blue Springs police ID slain teen, investigate person of interest
Blue Springs police investigating a triple shooting have developed a person of interest and have named a 17-year-old who was killed at the scene, police said Sunday.
Jayden M. Lockett of Blue Springs was found shot and killed Saturday afternoon at a home in the 1200 block of Southwest Sunset Street. The shooting left two other teens injured.
On Sunday, Blue Springs police announced they were investigating a “person of interest.”
Police were still “actively and extremely” involved in the investigation, said Jennifer Dachenhausen, a police spokeswoman.
The shooting Saturday was reported about 3:15 p.m., when police recieved a call from someone who said they had been shot.
When officers arrived at the home, they found Lockett dead and two other teens wounded by gunfire.
A 15-year-old injured at the home was in an intensive care unit at a hospital Sunday.
A 19-year-old who was shot in the elbow was treated and released.
Soon after the shooting, Sgt. Joe Fanara of the Blue Springs Police Department said investigators were still learning what led to the gunfire and thought two people had fired shots.
