One teen dead in Blue Springs shooting; police think two exchanged gunfire

One teen died and two others were injured in a shooting at a Blue Springs home Saturday afternoon, police said.

Police said they received a call about 3:15 p.m. from someone who said they were shot in the 1200 block of Southwest Sunset Street.

When officers arrived at the home, they found three victims.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to a hospital, and was in critical condition Saturday night, police said.

A 19-year-old man was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Another teen, a 17-year-old boy, was found dead inside the house. Police have not released his identity. They were investigating his death as a homicide.

Sgt. Joe Fanara of the Blue Springs Police Department said police were still investigating to see what led to the gunfire, and said police think two shooters were involved.

Police were not actively looking for a suspect, and remained at the scene Saturday night while waiting for a search warrant.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Blue Springs Police Department at 816-228-0151 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
