Man found fatally wounded after shooting in KC apartment complex parking lot

A man was fatally shot Thursday morning in the parking lot of an apartment complex, according to Kansas City police.

The shooting occurred about 7:45 a.m. in the parking lot of an apartment building in the 8100 block of Campbell Street.

The victim, identified by police as Darian T. Sanders, 23, was pronounced dead shortly after police arrived. Investigators are looking for a dark colored-Chevrolet Malibu that reportedly drove away after the shooting

“We don’t know if the person was involved in the shooting or not but we just want them to come forward and let us know,” said police spokesman Officer Darin Snapp.

Several witnesses said they did not recognize the victim as someone who lived at the apartment complex, Snapp said.

Nearby resident Yolanda Holley said people were arguing near the parking lot the night before, and she could hear it through her open bedroom window.

Police had no suspect description or motive to release. They are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
