KC man arrested for Johnson County, Mo. hit-and-run crash; victim still recovering
A motorist suspected of hitting a man in Johnson County, Mo., and driving away last month has been arrested and charged, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Charles L. Henderson, 39, of Kansas City, was charged with a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident.
Authorities believe Henderson was the driver who struck a male pedestrian Sept. 18 in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 50 near County Road 601.
At the time of the crash, the highway patrol said a man had run out of gas on the highway and was returning to his vehicle when another vehicle hit him. The man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
In a tweet Friday, the highway patrol said the victim was still in the hospital recovering from his injuries.
Henderson remained in the Johnson County jail Friday night. Bond was set at $40,000 cash.
