Police waiting on search warrant to further investigate triple homicide in Raytown
Three men, including two brothers, died in an apparent murder-suicide Sunday night in Raytown, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported Monday.
Christopher and Mark Bogert, and Dale Villines were identified as the victims.
The highway patrol has not identified who investigators think fired the shots that left the men dead in front of a home in the 11000 block of East 74th Terrace.
Villines was 59, Christopher Bogert was 57 and Mark Bogert was 54, the patrol reported.
All three demonstrated on social media a shared love for classic motorcycles.
Raytown police originally responded to the scene after a 911 caller said shots had been heard about 8:20 p.m. Sunday. The caller said three men were lying in front of the house.
A neighbor said she heard two distinct rounds of four shots — eight in all.
The highway patrol took the lead in the investigation, at Raytown’s request.
The triple homicide rocked the neighborhood, which residents described as a quiet area.
“We walk in this neighborhood all the time,” said a woman who lived nearby. “I was shocked.”
The woman said she feared that one of the victims was a man she talked to frequently.
“He was a very nice person,” she said. “He always said, ‘Hi,’ to you if he saw you out walking.”
Another resident, who has lived in the area for more than 30 years, said the neighborhood has little crime.
“We never have had any problems down here before,” he said.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information was asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
