Kansas City police search for car that struck and killed man using wheelchair
A man who was using a motorized wheelchair when he was struck by a car in a hit-and-run wreck in Kansas City has died, according to police.
Phillip M. Noel, 50, of Kansas City was killed.
Kansas City police are looking for a white Saturn Aura that investigators think hit Noel about 9:30 a.m. near 11th and Charlotte streets. The wreck left Noel's wheelchair in pieces in the street.
The initial investigation showed that Noel had been using the crosswalk to cross 11th Street when he was hit by a car that left the scene without stopping, said Sgt. Bill Mahoney, an accident investigation supervisor at the Kansas City Police Department.
Noel was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police are distributing photos of a suspect vehicle as the investigation continues.
