Woman admits guilt in $348,000 job kickback scheme against JE Dunn

An Oklahoma woman has pleaded guilty for her role in a scheme to defraud JE Dunn Construction in Kansas City.

Debi K. Jordan, 53, owned two Oklahoma-based job recruitment businesses and and admitted to conspiring with an in-house job recruiter for Dunn. who worked with companies like hers.

Jordan’s companies were paid by JE Dunn for finding employees who would be hired by the company. But as part of the scheme, they took money from JE Dunn for employees who ended up not being hired.

Jordan then paid kickbacks to the in-house recruiter, according to the terms of her plea agreement.

She pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to one count of mail fraud. As part of the plea agreement, Jordan will pay $348,450 in restitution.

Her sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 9.
