A Wyandotte County jury found a 30-year-old Kansas City man guilty of murder in the strangling death of an 18-year-old Mission woman found dead last year in a Kansas City, Kan., motel.

Carlos Gallegos was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder in the July death of Monica J. Chavira. Sentencing was set for Sept. 15.

Chavira was found dead in a motel room in the 500 block of Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City, Kan.
