Officials searching for car tied to Lenexa officer-involved shooting in Shawnee
Authorities have released a surveillance photo of a car they are attempting to locate in connection with an officer-involved shooting in Shawnee.
The Johnson County multijurisdictional officer-involved shooting investigation team is looking for a 1986 Monte Carlo with Kansas license plate 974-GXJ.
Authorities said the vehicle was involved in an officer-involved shooting early Thursday at a Shawnee convenience store.
The incident happened just after midnight when a Shawnee police officer checked the license plate of a vehicle parked at the QuikTrip located in the 10300 block of West 75th Street.
The records showed that the person connected to the vehicle had an outstanding warrant.
A Lenexa officer arrived to assist the Shawnee officer and while doing so fired his weapon at the man, who fled in an unknown direction.
The officer is on paid administrative leave, which is standard policy after a shooting.
Anyone with information should call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
