A Jackson County jury on Friday convicted a Kansas City man in the March 2015 murder of another man.

Christopher Perkins, 50, was convicted of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon in the death of Kelvin Paige.

A witness told police that Perkins and Paige got into an argument the night of March 22, 2015, near 25th and Campbell streets. Paige, 53, and a passenger in his car began to drive away when Perkins pulled out a gun and fired into the vehicle, according to court documents.

The passenger got out and ran, and Paige’s car rolled for about a block until it crashed into a light pole.

Several people driving by shortly afterward saw a man dragging a body by the ankles toward a pickup truck, which according to court documents was similar in appearance to a truck driven by Perkins.

Perkins, who was charged as a prior offender, will be sentenced Dec. 2.
