Man charged in Sept. 25 homicide on Hardesty Avenue in KC
A 20-year-old Kansas City man is charged with first-degree murder in the September fatal shooting of a romantic rival.
Dairian E. Stanley is charged with killing 26-year-old Torrence Evans on Sept. 25 in the 5600 block of Hardesty Avenue.
Stanley is also charged in Jackson County Circuit Court with kidnapping and armed criminal action.
According to court documents, Stanley confronted his former girlfriend, assaulted her and threatened to kill her after he learned that she had a relationship with Evans.
The woman later told police that Stanley punched her in the face and head, put her in a chokehold and threatened to kill her after he killed the other man.
He forced her to drive with him to 56th and Hardesty where he confronted Evans and allegedly shot him, according to the documents.
The woman ran away, and Stanley reportedly fled in her car. He was later arrested in Tulsa, Okla.
