A 15-year-old boy has been charged with sexually assaulting another student at Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village.
The Johnson County district attorney’s office said Wednesday that the boy was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, which is a felony, and one count of lewd and lascivious behavior, a misdemeanor.
The alleged victim in the Sept. 14 incident is a freshman girl, school officials had said previously.
The girl reported to school officials that one boy groped and fondled her inside a boys bathroom while another boy held the door shut, school officials said.

The case was investigated by Prairie Village police.
Prosecutors did not release the name of the boy charged, and no court date for him has been set.
School officials said that internal disciplinary action was also taken as a result of the incident, but they could not comment because of privacy laws.
Teens throughout the metro area last week wore black in support of the victim.
