This popular Mediterranean chain is coming to Lee's Summit amid wave of expansion
Meddys, the popular Mediterranean chain, is opening a new restaurant in Lee’s Summit amid a wave of aggressive expansion.
.Meddys launched in Wichita in 2014 before pushing into the Kansas City metro with a handful of locations. The new Lee’s Summit restaurant located at 460 NW Chipman Road will be the chain’s fifth location in the Kansas City area. Meddys founder and owner Alex Harb said he hopes to have the Lee’s Summit restaurant open in a couple of months.
Meddys bills itself as a polished, fast-casual restaurant. The chain offers a range of shawarma options, bowls, platters and salads.
“We’re very grateful for the Kansas City market,” Harb said. “They really embraced us and pretty much met us with open arms. Our Kansas City market was the first market we expanded to outside of Wichita, and I was personally terrified because I didn’t know what to expect, to be honest with you. It really embraced us with open arms and really showed us a lot of love. I’m personally very grateful for that.”
Harb said the company has been looking at Lee’s Summit for a few years and was waiting to land the right location.
“We’re trying to expand in the Kansas City market, and Lee’s Summit fits the box for us,” he said.
Harb said he expected the chain would have 30 restaurants by the end of next year and hoped to see 50 open within the next two or three years.
“It’s been a great run, and we’ve been very blessed with our team and our guests,” he said.
