There was a bit of confusion Saturday about one of the more popular farmers markets in the Kansas City area.

According to the Overland Park Farmers Market, over 100 people ended up at the construction site of the Clock Tower Landing on Saturday, April 18. This will be the future home of the market, which is set to open June 6.

The market said the confusion came from incorrect AI search results on apps like Google and Instagram. There isn’t any signage that leads visitors from the tower landing to the temporary market, which is located a couple of blocks away at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St.

“The Farmers Market is extremely popular, so it’s not unusual that we occasionally have to correct information online to make sure visitors have the most up-to-date information about the market,” a spokesperson from the city of Overland Park said in an email to The Star.

They said they reached out to Meta to have the false information removed.

The Overland Park Farmers Market runs 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays from April 18 to Sept. 26; 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays from Oct. 3 to Nov. 21. It’s also open 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays from June 3 to Sept. 2. It’s one of several that have opened for the spring and summer.

The market said the most accurate information can be found on the city’s website and its social media pages.
