Farmers market season has arrived. Here’s where you can find them in the KC area
Now that spring has begun, Kansas City-area vendors are gearing up to sell their goods at local farmers markets near you.
Many popular farmers markets in the metro are starting up in April. Some of them take place multiple days in the week, while others are either bi-weekly or occur once a week.
Regardless, there will be plenty of opportunities to find your fresh produce and local vendors. Here’s a list of farmers markets that will begin soon, and how long they will be running.
Blue Springs
- When: 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays from May 2 through Sept. 26
- Where: 499 SW State Route 7, Blue Springs
Bonner Springs
- When: 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays from May 2 through Oct. 17
- Where: The Pavilion at Centennial Park, 126 E. Cedar St., Bonner Springs
Brookside
- When: The outdoor market runs from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday from April 11 through Oct. 31.
- Where: HJ’s Community Center, 6425 Wornall Road, Kansas City
City Market
The largest farmers market in Kansas City operates year-round. The list of vendors can be found on the City Market website.
- When: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends from April through October; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends in November through December and March; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday only in January and February
- Where: 20 E. Fifth St.
Ivanhoe Farmers Market
- When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on every second Saturday of the month from May through October.
- Where: 3700 Woodland Ave., Kansas City
Kansas City, Kansas
- When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on every other Saturday from June through October. Dates can be found on kckfarmersmarket.org.
- Where: 1739 Quindaro Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas
Lawrence
- When: 7:30-11:30 a.m. every Saturday from April 11 to Nov. 21
- Where: 824 New Hampshire St.
Lee’s Summit
Vendor maps for both the Wednesday and Saturday markets can be found on downtownls.org.
- When: 8 a.m. to noon Wednesdays and Saturdays from April 4 to Oct. 31
- Where: Green Street Market building, 209 SE Green St.
Lenexa
- When: 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays from April 25 to Oct. 31; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Tuesdays from May 26 to Aug. 25
- Where: Lenexa City Hall, 17101 W. 87th St. Parkway., Lenexa
Liberty
This market features over 75 local business vendors throughout the season and is a rain-or-shine event.
- When: 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays from May through October
- Where: 11 N. Gallatin, Liberty
Merriam
Select dates will have live music and free kid activities, both occurring between 10 a.m. through noon. The dates can be found on merriam.org.
- When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays from May 2 through Sept. 26
- Where: Merriam Marketplace, 5740 Merriam Drive, Merriam
Mission
- When: 4:30-8 p.m. Thursdays from June 4 through Aug. 27
- Where: 5635 Johnson Drive, Mission
Olathe
- When: 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays from April 25 through Oct. 24. The Wednesday market is open from 7:30 a.m. until all items are sold out starting May 6.
- Where: The Saturday market is located at 219 W. Loula St. and Black Bob Park, 14500 W 151st St., Olathe. The Wednesday market is at Black Bob Park.
Overland Park
- When: 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays from April 18 to Sept. 26; 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays from Oct. 3 to Nov. 21; 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays from June 3 to Sept. 2
- Where: 8101 Marty St., Overland Park
Parkville
- When: 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays from April 25 to Oct. 31; noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays from June 10 to Sept. 9
- Where: 8850 McAfee St., Parkville
Shawnee
- When: 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays from May 2 through Oct. 31
- Where: 11110 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, on the northwest corner of Johnson Drive and Nieman Road
Shawnee’s Moonlight Market runs from 4-8 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at City Hall.
