Still need Halloween plans in Johnson County? See 7 events to try

There’s a chill in the air and candy-packed shelves at the grocery store. That’s right, it’s almost Halloween weekend.

In the next few days, you can still find a few more events in Johnson County to enjoy the vibes, both spooky and sweet.

Here are a few to try, no matter where you are in the county.

Halloween events for families

  • 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 29: Family Night costume contest at Lenexa Public Market, 8750 Penrose Lane, with a costume parade and ghost scavenger hunt, with prizes from Made in KC.
  • 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 30: 4-8 p.m. Enchanted Forest at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park, at Lackman Road and 87 th Street in Lenexa, with hayrides, pumpkin decorating, puppet show, fire eating, slime-making and limited candy.
  • 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Oct. 31: Trick-or-Treat inside at Olathe’s Indian Creek Library, 16100 W. 135th St., and the Downtown Library, 260 E. Santa Fe St.
  • 10 a.m.-noon on Oct. 31: Shawnee Spookfest at the Shawnee Civic Centre, 13817 Johnson Drive, for the preschool crowd, featuring crafts, a bounce house and cupcake decorating. Admission is $5. Preregister at recreateshawnee.org or call (913) 631-5200.
  • 4-6 p.m. on Oct. 31: Trick-or-Treat at Corinth Square, 83rd Street and Mission Road in Prairie Village

Halloween events for adults

  • 7-10 p.m. on Oct. 31: Friday Night Sound Frights and adult costume contest at Lenexa Public Market, 8750 Penrose Lane, with music from Tre’ Mutava and prizes from Made in KC. This event is for adults.
  • 7-11 p.m. on Oct. 31: Haunted Glow Golf at Craft Putt in Overland Park, 11440 W. 135th St., when the entire mini-golf course becomes a glow-in-the-dark experience, for $6 a person.
