Pumpkin patch pickings abound in Olathe area
The spooky decoration build-up in your neighborhood means it’s the right time for a visit to the pumpkin patch. Here are five within about a 30 minutes drive of Olathe:
▪ Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, 13800 Switzer Road in Overland Park, through Oct. 31.
Activities: Hay ride, hay slide, maze, corn box, giant checkers, tractor-pulled barrel train, half-pint kids area.
Price: Price: Including Farmstead admission, tickets are $10 Monday to Thursday until 2 p.m. and $10 Friday to Sunday all day. Tickets are $8 after 2 p.m. Monday to Thursday. Children under 1 year get into the Farmstead and Pumpkin Hollow for free. Tickets for ages 1-2 are $8 for the Hollow any day; older children’s tickets are regular admission prices for the Farmstead and Hollow. The ticket includes a pumpkin.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
▪ Gieringer’s Family Orchard & Berry Farm, 39345 W. 183rd St. in Edgerton, through Oct. 28
Activities: Interactive corn maze, small-kids maze, combine slide, truck slide, large corn pit, inflated pumpkin jump pad, hay mountain, wagon ride
Price: $10 per person, plus tax. Children 2 and under get in free. Pumpkins are extra, priced at 49 cents per pound.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday
▪ Louisburg Cider Mill, 14730 Kansas Highway 68 in Louisburg, through Oct. 31
Activities: Large corn crib, 10-acre corn maze, hay ride, bean bag toss, tricycle track, rope spider web, inflated jump pillow
Price: $10 for most activities, $2 extra for jump pillow and hay ride. Pumpkin prices vary by size. Children 3 and under get in free, and weekday admission is discounted to $6 per person.
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
▪ Powell Pumpkin Patch, 25695 Spring Valley Road in Louisburg, through Oct. 31
Activities: Corn maze, hay rides (weekends only), nature trail, playground
Price: Admission is free, but corn maze access is $5 for adults, $3 for kids ages 7-12 and free for kids 6 and under. Regular pumpkins are 45 cents per pound; specialty pumpkins are 55 cents per pound.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily (Corn maze closes at 5 p.m.)
▪ Kerby Farm, 15943 158th St. in Bonner Springs, through Oct. 28
Activities: Hay ride, corn maze, rubber duck races, animals to watch, playground
Hours: Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday noon to 6 p.m.
Price: $7 per person. Children 2 and under get in free. Pumpkins are 50 cents per pound.
