Sporting Kansas City sideline reporter and KSHB-TV (Channel 41) reporter Kacie McDonnell announced on the air Friday that she is leaving the station. Her last day was Friday.

McDonnell, who is originally from Pennsylvania and graduated from Villanova, said she is heading back to the East Coast. She worked at Fox 29 in Philadelphia before moving to Kansas City in part because her boyfriend at the time, quarterback Aaron Murray, was drafted by the Chiefs.

In September 2014, McDonnell was hired at KSHB, and she has worked as a pregame and postgame host and sideline reporter for Sporting Kansas City since February 2015. McDonnell hasn’t been part of the last few broadcasts when Sporting KC has been on the road.

McDonnell also was part of Turner Sports’ coverage of Villanova during this year’s Final Four.

Last year, McDonnell and Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer publicly announced on social media that they were dating.

“I want to thank everybody at home for welcoming me into your homes … two years has flown by,” McDonnell said during her farewell appearance on Friday.
