Lightning is believed to have sparked a fire that damaged a home in Olathe Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, a woman noticed that smoke was coming from the crawl space of her home in the 700 block of North Chestnut Street.

When firefighters arrived, they found thick, brown smoke billowing from the home’s crawl space and attic. They brought the fire under control in about 25 minutes.

The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damages. The couple living in the home was temporarily displaced.

No one was injured in the fire.
