Truck fire brings fire crews to east KC caves
Kansas City firefighters fought a truck fire Thursday afternoon inside an east Kansas City storage cave complex.
Emergency personnel who responded to the 8200 block of East 23rd Street just after 3 p.m. found polyurethane materials burning in a truck, said Battalion Chief James Garrett.
Authorities evacuated KC Interstate Underground Warehouse Distribution, just east of Interstate 435, and spent the late afternoon trying to clear the smoke with large fans, Garrett said.
There were no injuries.
