Man gets consecutive life sentences for murder, assault

A 25-year-old Kansas City man was sentenced Friday to three life sentences for fatally stabbing a man and seriously wounding two others. Jackson County Circuit Judge Robert M. Schieber ordered two of the sentences to be served consecutively.

Henry “Ricky” Ramirez had been found guilty by a jury for the crimes that occurred in April 2012 in a house in the 8500 block of Wayne Avenue. Ramirez killed Thomas C. Willis and returned to the scene of the stabbings several hours after the attacks, while police were still there.

Ramirez was sentenced to life in prison for second-degree murder and on each of two counts of first-degree assault. He was also sentenced to 10 years each on three counts of armed criminal action. Those sentences are to run concurrently with the others.
