‘Duck Dynasty’ family to sponsor college football’s Independence Bowl

The Robertson family of “Duck Dynasty” fame is the new sponsor of the Independence Bowl in their home state of Louisiana, according to The Shreveport Times.

Bowl officials plan a press conference on Wednesday to announce a reported six-year agreement with the family, whose hunting supply business is featured on the A&E reality show “Duck Dynasty.”

“We can confirm that Independence Bowl Foundation officials are very excited about a partnership with Duck Commander,” Independence Bowl executive director Missy Setters told the Shreveport newspaper.

Football runs deep in the Robertson family, which fans of the show know. (Some of us were in the dark.) Phil played quarterback at Louisiana Tech for two seasons, starting ahead of future NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw.

The Independence Bowl is played at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, about 100 miles from Duck Commander headquarters in Monroe, La.

The bowl sponsorship follows the announcement that Duck Commander will sponsor a NASCAR race at the Texas Motor Speedway. So who knows what other sporting events the Robertsons will throw their millions behind.
