UMKC men top New Mexico State 68-66
Martez Harrison made two free throws with 3.8 seconds left, then stole the ball as time expires as UMKC beat New Mexico State 68-66 on Saturday night at Municipal Auditorium.
Nelson Kirksey’s two free throws with 12.8 seconds left put UMKC up three. However, the Aggies’ Kevin Aronis made three-pointer with 5.8 seconds left to tie it at 66-66.
Harrison finished with 21 points for UMKC, 6-11 and 3-2 in the WAC, while Kirksey scored 17 points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds. Harrison made eight of 10 free throws for the Kangaross.
New Mexico State fell to 14-7 and 3-2.
Women’s team fallsUMKC senior Eilise O’Connor made 22 of 23 free throws and finished with a career-high 35 points, but the Kangaroos lost at New Mexico State 106-77.
O’Connor’s 22 made fouls shots set a Western Athletic Conference and UMKC record.
