Jury convicts KC man in Craigslist-related robbery
A Jackson County jury has convicted a Kansas City man of robbery and kidnapping charges in a March 15, 2012, scam involving Craigslist.
Derrick L. Johnson, 20, placed an online ad for a 2005 Ford Mustang and met his victims in the 4300 block of Hardesty Avenue.
After a man, his fiancee and her juvenile son met Johnson, he pulled a gun, took their valuables, $200 and demanded they go to an automatic teller machine. There, the adult male victim withdrew $800.
Jurors convicted Johnson of three counts of kidnapping, four counts of robbery and seven armed criminal action counts.
