‘Devil baby’ freaking out New Yorkers goes viral (with video)

Today’s lesson: The next time you come upon a crying baby in a stroller, run! Run for your life! It could be a devil baby.

That’s what unsuspecting New Yorkers found recently when the makers of the new horror movie, “Devil’s Due,” played a nasty prank.

They put a devilish robot baby inside a buggy and sent it by remote control across New York streets and sidewalks to scare the bleep out of unsuspecting passers-by.

The YouTube video of the “Devil Baby Attack” has more than 5 million hits.

It shows a lot of screaming and cursing and running as New Yorkers, drawn to the stroller by the sound of a crying baby, are scared out of their pants when a baby with a devil face pops up.

The baby projectile vomits, too.

Cool.

Notice, though, the one tough guy who responds with nothing more than a look of meh.

This calls to mind the marketing stunt pulled by the “Carrie” folks last year.

Remember the “telekinetic coffee shop surprise” and the screaming banshee woman throwing people up walls and making books fly off shelves? That YouTube video has been viewed more than 53 million times. (Relive the magic below.)

By the way, “Devil’s Due” comes out on Jan. 17. But we have to agree with one YouTube poster who writes: “More people are going to see this video than the movie it's advertising.”
