KC police log final traffic fatality of 2013
Kansas City police on Tuesday identified a woman who died after a December traffic crash as Willie Irvine, 94, of Kansas City.
Irvine was driving north on U.S. 169 just south of Missouri 9 about 8 p.m. Dec. 18 when another vehicle rear-ended hers. She remained in the hospital until dying from her injuries Dec. 22, said Sgt. Bill Mahoney. Police learned of the death this week.
The other driver was not hurt.
Her death was counted as the final traffic fatality of 2013. The city recorded 61 fatalities last year, which was 11 fewer than 2012.
