An employee with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, has been placed under administrative leave after being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.

Economic development director Chelsee Chism was arrested in Johnson County on Thursday on a charge of a DUI - aggravated battery/great bodily harm, which is a level five felony.

Krystal McFeders, a Unified Government spokesperson, confirmed Friday night that Chism is employed by the government. McFeders said in a statement:

“Once the Unified Government was made aware of the charge, Ms. Chism was placed on administrative leave.”

Chism posted the $5,000 bond and was released the same day. She was scheduled to appear in court midday Friday.

In her time in Wyandotte County, Chism has worked projects including the Rock Island Bridge and new American Royal facility, according to Star reporting.
