Ten people, including seven juveniles, were injured in Kansas City, Kansas’ Kensington neighborhood Wednesday after a law enforcement pursuit ended in a car crash.

Troopers with the Kansas Highway Patrol were pursuing a 2007 Honda Pilot when the vehicle ran a red light near North 18th Terrace and Minnesota Avenue just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to a crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The vehicle struck a second 2007 Honda Pilot, which spun and hit a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, the crash report said.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle was uninjured, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Three other people in the vehicle, including a 6-month-old, had minor injuries, the report said. There were five people in the vehicle in all at the time of the incident.

In the second Honda Pilot, seven occupants, including six juveniles, had minor injuries, according to the crash report. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was uninjured.

It’s unclear why troopers were pursuing the vehicle. The highway patrol did not immediately respond to The Star’s request for comment.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle was booked into the Wyandotte County Detention Center, according to the jail’s inmate listing.
