Kansas City’s Union Station lit up in special colors for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Thursday night ahead of what is expected to be a celebration of their wedding in New York City.

The gesture was a thank you to the couple, who announced through a representative Thursday they donated $26 million to charities in the United States this week, including Children’s Mercy and Harvesters regional food bank in Kansas City. The food bank revealed it received $1 million.

Tonight, we light up Union Station in orange and teal for Taylor Swift and red and gold for Travis Kelce,” the landmark posted on social media Thursday.

“Thank you, Travis and Taylor, for your incredible generosity today, supporting charities across the nation, including here in Kansas City, and making a lasting impact that will touch thousands of lives.”

Union Station officials have been some of Swift’s biggest fans in Kansas City since she brought her historic Eras Tour to Kansas City in July 2023, hosting many events for fans as she became a fixture in the city through her relationship with Kelce.

“What began with a special building lighting and fan photo opportunity quickly became something much larger,” Union Station officials told The Star this week.

“Over the past several years, Union Station has celebrated milestone moments throughout Taylor’s connection to Kansas City — from welcoming her first visit to Arrowhead Stadium to commemorating ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ album announcement and celebrating her engagement.

“The response has been extraordinary. Images of Union Station illuminated in celebration have reached millions of people around the world through social media and national and international news coverage.

“More importantly, we’ve watched those moments bring people together here at home. Friends have reunited beneath our historic clock, families have gathered for photos, fans have proudly celebrated their favorite eras, and parents and children have created lasting memories together — all within the walls of Kansas City’s iconic Union Station.”

The building will light up in the Swift-Kelce colors again Friday night, when the duo is expected to celebrate their nuptials at Madison Square Garden. It will also be lit in colors for the teams playing in the FIFA World Cup match at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium Friday.

In its post Thursday night, Union Station wished the couple well.

“And from all of us at Union Station and throughout the Kansas City community, enjoy your special weekend. We send our congratulations and wish you every happiness together,” it wrote.

“Tonight, the Kingdom lights shine for you.”
