Pre-wedding, Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce donate $26 million to charities, two in KC
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have donated $26 million this week to at least 20 charities in the United States, presumably ahead of their wedding on Friday.
The announcement from a representative did not acknowledge the wedding or its date.
Children’s Mercy Hospital and Harvesters regional food bank in Kansas City are two beneficiaries.
In a thank you message posted on Instagram, Harvesters revealed it had received a $1 million donation.
“Sparks are flying early at Harvesters! We’d like to send a heartfelt thank you to @taylorswift and @killatrav for their very generous donation to our food bank just prior to their big wedding day,” the post read.
“The two of them have incredibly big hearts and have shown up to support not only us but many charities over the years. We feel so lucky that they make the conscious effort to invest in hunger relief and the beautiful community we call Kansas City! THANK YOU!”
The charities include three children’s hospitals, seven educational programs — including Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library — nine food banks and an animal cruelty organization.
During her record-breaking Eras Tour, Swift made sizable donations to food banks — including Harvesters — in cities where she performed.
She has a connection to Children’s Mercy, too. Just a few days after she wrapped the Eras Tour in December 2024 she made a surprise visit to the hospital where she spent time with several young patients, FaceTimed their families, and gave away autographed gifts.
Meanwhile, Swift’s fans have begun making charitable plans of their own this week
Taking a cue from their music idol, Swifties have organized large-scale fundraising campaigns over the years. They have donated to causes ranging from ocean conservation to disaster relief, often in increments of $13 reflecting the superstar’s favorite number.
Pre-wedding, some are sharing plans online to donate money to celebrate the couple using the numbers 13 and 87, Kelce’s jersey number.
“So my Swiftie friends, maybe we donate $13.87 to our favorite charities? We are sending donations to Children’s Mercy ... Kansas Food Bank and the Kansas Humane Society as wedding gifts,” Swift fan Christy Dew posted on Threads Wednesday. “Post where you’re donating.”
“Love this idea! I just donated $13.87 to Operation Breakthrough,” a fellow fan responded, naming the Kansas City nonprofit Kelce’s charitable organization, 87 & Running, supports.
“I donated to 87 and Running. $13.87,” another wrote.
“The Homeless Resource Center in Lawrence, KS is a great place to donate!” one fan suggested. “Run by two Swifties and we love taking care of our community.”
A charitable donation in the couple’s name seems to be the perfect gift for “the couple that has everything,” a Swiftie in Iowa wrote on Facebook Wednesday.
“On the day the nuptials are announced I plan to make a $100 (13 + 87) donation to my favorite charity (petsforpatriots.org) in their names. Just a small way to join in the Celebration Of Mankind. Let me know if you choose to do the same,” he wrote.
