A 1,000-room furniture store will have a grant opening event in a former Northland Macy’s next week.

The grand opening event will include food, refreshments, games and “hot buys,” according to a news release. Furniture Mall’s online listing indicates the location is open now.

The store will have more than 1,000 rooms featuring Furniture Mall’s selection of living room, bedroom and dining furniture alongside mattresses. Each room is styled with lighting, rugs, accessories and wall decorations, according to the news release.

Furniture Mall at former Macy’s site

The Winter family opened the first Furniture Mall in 2013. There are existing locations in Olathe and Lee’s Summit.

Shoppers can ride tricycles around the showroom as they shop or enjoy frozen custard, fresh cookies and beverages.

Furniture Mall replaces about 150,000-square feet in what was once a Macy’s store that closed in 2025. Plans for an NRG Adventure Park in the former Macy’s have also been announced.

Redevelopment at the 106-acre Metro North site has also included new apartments and several new restaurants.
