Kansas City man charged with DWI in crash that killed person on Paseo Boulevard
A Kansas City man has been charged in connection to a fatal car crash earlier this year, the Jackson County prosecutor announced Wednesday.
Delton W. Cooper was charged with driving while intoxicated resulting in the death of another person and faces five to 15 years in prison if he is convicted.
On Feb. 1, Kansas City police responded to reports of an injury crash at 43rd Street and Paseo Boulevard, according to court records.
Detectives determined that Cooper was driving at a high speed when it struck another car, which overturned and ejected the other driver. At the scene, Cooper’s preliminary breath test measured a blood alcohol concentration of .247.
The other driver was hospitalized and died from his injuries Feb. 5.
His bond is set at $75,000.
