Woman kicked in face, beaten and severely injured in Lawrence, police say
Lawrence police are investigating a Saturday night incident where a woman was allegedly beaten and kicked in the face multiple times by another woman.
Police were dispatched before 5 p.m. Saturday to 10th and New Jersey streets , where they found the woman with severe facial injury and unable to communicate well. After the woman was able to name the alleged perpetuator, police determined that she had fled to a house on 10th and New York streets, where she was found and taken into custody.
Police said that after investigating the incident further they learned that the two women knew each other and were in a car with another man and woman when an argument broke out. After the two women got out, the couple drove away. Police are looking for the couple and any other witnesses.
The victim was transferred to an area trauma facility and the alleged perpetrator was later taken to Douglas County Correctional Facility.
