Good afternoon, Northland!

I’m Jenna Ebbers, back with your roundup of the biggest Northland stories from the past week.

Today, we’re diving into how a former Northland grocery store location is finally getting a new tenant after sitting empty for several months.

A popular Johnson County international grocer is expanding across state lines to open the metro’s second World Fresh Market, months after Sun Fresh announced its closure in February.

But expanding into the Northland is about more than just opening another storefront, according to owner Eddie Musallet. It’s also a chance to provide a missing service to a diverse, growing population.

“It’s bare up there. There’s a lot of different stores like, say, Pan-Asia and stuff like that in Overland Park. There’s none of that up north,” he told me for the story. “I think the community needs it.”
