What’s new at Oak Park Mall? KC brands, Mexican crafts, $5.99 shirts and more
Despite closures at the beginning of the year, several new shops have opened inside the Oak Park Mall recently.
The openings come just in time for the Overland Park mall to be part of the Johnson County Link, which will connect the cities of Leawood, Lenexa, Merriam, Mission, Olathe, Overland Park and Shawnee for the World Cup.
From exotic snacks and women’s boutiques to local favorites, here are some of the newest stores to open inside the mall.
Charlie Hustle
The local brand, known for the iconic KC heart shirts opened its mall location May 8, according to a Charlie Hustle employee. The new store carries shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, hats and accessories and feature a soccer collection. It can be found on the lower level next to the Aldo.
Charlie Hustle is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The other store location is on the Country Club Plaza, 419 W. 47th St.
Pasarella
Pasarella opened its first Midwest location in April, according to an employee. The contemporary women’s boutique offers dresses, statement pieces, shoes and accessories.
The boutique is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 to 8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Other locations include three in Venezuela and one in Miami.
Morenita Mia
Morenita Mia, a Mexican-based artisanal shop opened in the upper level of the mall on April 25. Noemi Leal, the founder of Artesanias Morenita Mia LLC, has been living in Kansas City, Kansas, for six years, according to the store’s website, and created the shop to bring the richness of Mexican craftsmanship to the community.
The store works directly with artisans in the south-central region of Mexico who make clay pots, jewelry, clothing, accessories and seasonal decorations.
“Each piece reflects tradition, talent and culture,” Morenita Mia’s website said.
Morenita Mia is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 to 8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 to 6 p.m.
SOT.
SOT., a discount clothing boutique, opened on the first floor in the mall back in March. The storefront offers clothes for the whole family. Everything inside is sold for $5.99 every day.
The Oak Park Mall location is one of 10 across the Midwest, according to its Instagram account, including Wichita and Springfield. SOT. is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 to 8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 to 6 p.m.
Midwest Dirty Pop
Midwest Dirty Pop, an ‘80s-themed drink stand, opened in February on the floo level. The shop sells dirty sodas, lemonade and energy drinks.
Dirty pop, according to owner Mike Lewis, is a regular pop with a twist. Customers can create their own drink by choosing a soda and adding flavored syrups, cream and or sweet foam on top.
The neon green beverage shop sells 24-ounce dirty sodas for $6.22 and energy drinks of the same size for $7.22.
Fan favorites include Another One Bites the Dust (root beer, toasted marshmallow, vanilla and sweet cream) and Let’s Go Crazy (Sprite, blue razz, cherry, cold foam and gummy shark).
Midwest Dirty Pop is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
Exotic Snack Guys
Exotic Snack Guys, which opened in January on the second floor of the mall, sells a variety of candies, cookies and sodas from over 40 countries like truffle Lays and strawberry Oreos, according to an Instagram post.
Founded in 2023, the franchise has expanded to over 80 locations across the United States. The Oak Park Mall’s location is the only Exotic Snack Guys location in Kansas.
Exotic Snack Guys is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 to 8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 to 6 p.m.
Made in KC
The well-known gift shop brand opened a permanent space in Oak Park Mall back in November. It took over a spot formerly home to Nine Leather and Fossil, on the second floor near the food court.
The spot in Oak Park Mall marks Made in KC’s eighth neighborhood shop (gift shop-style store) in the metro. The brand also has three Made in KC Marketplace locations (a gift shop and coffee shop combination) and one Made in KC Cafe.
Aur Society
Aur Society, a women’s clothing store, carries clothes and accessories for first dates, final interviews, workout gear and more, according to its website. The brand opened on the second floor inside the mall April 2025 and is one of four locations across the country in Alabama, New York, Kansas and Wisconsin.
Its website calls the company “ a lifestyle brand built on beliefs that unite all women promoting respect, courage, leadership, well-being and confidence in the way we look and feel.”
The storefront is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 to 8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 to 6 p.m.
Miniso
Miniso, a Chinese retail store, opened inside the mall on the first floor roughly two years ago, according to an employee.
Miniso sells toys, plushies, collectible blind boxes, stationery, beauty, home goods, electronics, snacks and more. Founded in 2013, the brand has over 7,000 stores around the world and has collaborated with brands like Disney, Peanuts and Barbie.
The chain is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 to 6 p.m
