Here’s why ‘Four Seasons’ star Will Forte swam in KC hotel fountain during Big Slick

Not all the hijinks during the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend happened in front of big crowds. Actor Will Forte got “caught” trespassing in the fountain of the Westin hotel at Crown Center.

It was CNN anchor Jake Tapper’s fault. Both men are regulars at Big Slick events.

On Sunday Tapper posted a video to his Instagram account showing both men in the hotel lobby.

“As you know, maybe, last time I was here I got comedian and actor Will Forte, I told him I would give a sizable donation if he went into this hotel fountain and sang ‘Just Once’ by James Ingram,” Tapper said in the video.

“So here’s the new challenge.”

He tells Forte: “I will make a sizable donation, four figures, to Children’s Mercy through the Big Slick if you go into this hotel fountain and sing ‘Immigrant Song’ by Led Zeppelin.”

“I’m happy to do it,” said Forte, who plays Tina Fey’s husband in the Netflix series, “The Four Seasons,” which debuted its second season last week.

“I do this in the name of Big Slick and in the name of all the wonderful children, families, doctors, nurses, the entire staff of Children’s Mercy hospital.

“You guys are incredible. And I will need your help after whatever bacteria I’m facing.”

Forte took off his shirt, and as he dipped his feet into the fountain he yelled out Robert Plant’s famous wail of an intro: “Ah ah ahhhh ah! Ah ah ahhhh ah!”

“Oh my God it’s cold,” he said as he submerged his body into the shallow water and kept singing.

He only managed to swim a few feet, past the fountain’s KC-famous waterfall, before security appeared on the scene.

“All right, here’s security, you gotta get out now,” Tapper told him.

Next we see Forte being escorted away from the fountain by a hotel employee in a dark suit and a laughing Kansas City Police officer.

“Sorry Will, sorry Will,” Tapper yelled to Forte as the actor jokingly ran up an escalator to escape his captors.

It had to have been a bit.

This year’s two-day Big Slick event raised $4,241,814, just shy of last year’s $4.5 million total. More than $500,000 of that came from live auction items sold at the Saturday show at the T-Mobile Center.
