Savannah Bananas meet fans at KC area fast-food restaurant ahead of sold-out games
A line of people donning yellow clothing snaked around a North Kansas City Dairy Queen Friday. Some held baseballs. Some held gloves. All there to meet the Savannah Bananas.
Four Savannah Bananas players – Austin Drury, Jacob Bazala, Derek Klena and Kelsie Whitmore – took photos with fans and signed autographs at the Dairy Queen at 5381 North Antioch Road as part of a new national partnership between the team and the fast-food restaurant.
The partnership boasts a “Savannah Bananas Split Shake,” according to a news release from Katie Elfstrom, a public relations manager for Dairy Queen. The shake, “inspired by the team’s legendary flair” will be available for a limited time.
Dozens attended the event, which included a meet and greet and banana-themed decorations across the store.
Before the team splits town, the Savannah Bananas will play two sold-out games at Kauffman Stadium against the Indianapolis Clowns on May 30 and May 31.
The team previously sold out two games of “Banana Ball” at Kauffman Stadium in 2025. The fan-centered take on baseball saw familiar faces like Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas and Alex Gordon in attendance before the team beat the Firefighters 3-1.
