Two people from Belton were seriously injured late Sunday night when a turkey flew across the road in Johnson County, Missouri, and hit the motorcycle they were riding.

A crash report posted by the Missouri Highway Patrol shows the incident happened after 11 p.m. Sunday near Chilhowee on Missouri Highway 2, east of southwest 351 road. The two were on a westbound Harley Davidson Road King.

The turkey struck the motorcycle driver — a 62-year-old man — causing the bike to leave the roadway on the left side and overturn, striking a fence, the crash report stated. A woman, 63, was also injured.

Both were taken by helicopter to Research Medical Center, the patrol said.
