The Lawrence Police Department is asking survivors to come forward as part of an investigation into a Lawrence massage parlor, according to a Monday news release.

Officials are investigating after a 19-year-old woman reported she was raped by a male employee of Lawrence Thai Massage at 951 E. 23rd St., police said. According to the release, investigators were dispatched “moments after the incident occurred.”

The male employee was arrested on suspicion of rape and booked into the Douglas County Correctional Facility on April 29. The 31-year-old was later released while the investigation continued, according to the release.

“LKPD is asking anyone who visited Lawrence Thai Massage … and experienced inappropriate behavior during a therapy session to contact LKPD investigators,” officials wrote in the statement.

People with information can call the department’s non-emergency number at 785-843-0250 and mention incident L26022843 or ask to speak with a detective about the Lawrence Thai Massage investigation.

To submit anonymous tips, call Crime Stoppers of Lawrence and Douglas County at 785-843-8477.
