A man was sentenced Tuesday in Kansas City on federal charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

The U.S. District Court in Kansas City sentenced Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, 45, to 10 years in prison without parole for participating in a drug trafficking organization, prosecutors said.

Lopez-Sanchez was a member of a group distributing methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine, according to the news release.

In 2021, the Missouri Highway Patrol found 995 grams of cocaine and $58,601 in Lopez-Sanchez’s car when he was pulled over on Interstate 44 near the Oklahoma border, south of Joplin, court documents say.

The Jackson County Drug Task Force, the Missouri Highway Patrol, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and FBI investigated the case, according to the news release.
