A toddler is dead after a pedestrian crash in Independence on Saturday.

Independence police were called around 2:12 p.m. to the 800 block of Concord Circle, where a 2017 Cadillac XT5 backed out of a parking space and hit a 2-year-old on a scooter, according to Sgt. Steven Boles with the Independence Police Department.

The child was taken to the hospital, where they died, Boles said.

The crash is under investigation.
