Authorities search for driver after pedestrian killed in KC-area hit-and-run
Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash Thursday night where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle along U.S. 69 in Platte County.
A 38-year-old man, of Houston, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report. The man’s name has not been released. He reportedly was in the roadway when he was struck just before 8:30 p.m.
The vehicle that hit the man was southbound on U.S. 69 near Interstate 635, the patrol said. The driver of that vehicle, who fled the scene, was identified as an adult man, but there were no further details about the suspect on the crash report. The vehicle description is marked as unknown.
The Riverside Police Department and the Missouri Department of Transportation assisted the highway patrol with the incident.
